Santa Rosa Island

Channel Islands National Park

Gordon’s passion for wildlife and nature photography was arguably sparked out on Santa Rosa Island in California when he was a younger man. His father ran the land management operation out on The Island starting in 1979. Gordon worked alongside his father and friends until Santa Rosa became a full-time U.S. National Park in 2011. Gordon took countless photographs of this beautiful island and in this way honors the memory of the beautiful land and its history. As Gordon’s family grew, as did their love for this special place. His wife, Megan, spent much time with him there sharing special moments. Megan and her mother worked as cooks for the operation many times. Gordon’s daughters, Olivia and Anna, got to spend the early years of their lives running around and exploring the island. Gordon created many scrapbooks of his years on Santa Rosa and we are so excited to share some of our favorites with you, now. Gordon has also written a book about his experiences on the island. He regales us with tales about clients, pranks between crew members, and his own personal stories. Please enjoy the photographs he has taken throughout the years. From the pier that looks out to Santa Cruz Island, the barns where relics still remain, the Torrey Pine Forest, out to the camp on the other side of the island and all of the canyons and hills in between, this island is one of the more beautiful places on Earth. Remember that a picture is worth a thousand words, and to us these pictures are worth more memories than can be measured.
